Clinical Nurse Operating Room

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Clinical Nurse for our Orthopedic Surgery Center Operating Room in St. Louis, MO. This role delivers expert perioperative care to orthopedic patients, from pre-op assessment through recovery handoff. You will circulate and/or scrub for diverse orthopedic procedures, ensure strict safety and infection control, and coordinate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and the OR team. Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care for orthopedic surgical patients in the operating room
• Prepare OR suites, equipment, and instruments according to surgical protocols and physician preferences
• Conduct pre-operative assessments, verify consents, and ensure patient safety standards are met
• Circulate and/or scrub for orthopedic procedures, maintaining sterile technique and accurate counts
• Administer medications and monitor patient status intraoperatively, escalating concerns promptly
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR team to coordinate safe, efficient care
• Document care, assessments, and procedures accurately in the electronic health record
• Participate in quality improvement, infection prevention, and patient safety initiatives
• Educate patients and families on perioperative expectations and post-operative care instructions
• Support orientation and mentoring of new OR nurses and staff as needed
