Rochester Precision Optics LLC is seeking a CNC Operator I to support production of advanced optical and metal components for imaging, aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial applications. In this entry-level role, you will set up and operate CNC equipment, load materials, select and run programs, and monitor machining operations to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards. You will inspect parts with precision measurement tools, make basic offsets, document results, and follow detailed work instructions while maintaining a clean, safe work area. Working on-site in our New York manufacturing facility, you'll collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians, gain hands-on exposure to state-of-the-art equipment, and grow your skills in a collaborative, innovation-focused culture.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision optical and metal components
  • Load materials, select programs, and monitor machining operations for quality
  • Inspect parts using gauges, micrometers, and other metrology tools
  • Perform basic machine offsets and adjustments to maintain tolerances
  • Follow work instructions, blueprints, and production schedules
  • Document production data and report nonconformances
  • Perform routine machine cleaning and preventive maintenance
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve machining issues
