Vice President of Mission

Avera Health seeks a Vice President of Mission to provide visionary leadership that integrates our Catholic values, ethics, and commitment to compassionate care across all services. Reporting to senior leadership, this executive guides mission strategy, spiritual care, and ethics programs, ensuring they align with organizational goals and regulatory standards. The VP of Mission mentors leaders, advances a culture of hospitality and stewardship, and strengthens community and church partnerships. This role offers the opportunity to shape system-wide initiatives that improve patient outcomes and support team members in a collaborative, faith-informed environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership to integrate Avera Health's mission, Catholic values, and ethics across all facilities and services.
• Partner with senior leadership to align strategic initiatives, clinical care, and operations with organizational mission and culture.
• Oversee spiritual care, ethics, and mission integration programs, ensuring high-quality support for patients, families, and staff.
• Advise executives and boards on ethical decision-making, community benefit, and stewardship of resources.
• Develop and mentor mission leaders and chaplaincy teams, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
• Lead education and formation initiatives to deepen understanding of Avera's mission among leaders and staff.
• Measure and report mission-related outcomes, culture indicators, and community impact.
• Cultivate strong relationships with church partners, community organizations, and regional stakeholders.
