Diesel Shop Mechanic

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our Technical & Maintenance team supporting our waste and recycling fleet. In this on-site role, you will diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on diesel trucks and hydraulic waste collection equipment, ensuring safe, reliable operation. You'll work in a safety-focused, collaborative environment with modern tools, ongoing training, and opportunities for growth while helping keep essential services running for our communities.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a fleet of diesel trucks and waste collection equipment
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair engines, hydraulics, brakes, electrical, and pneumatic systems
• Complete maintenance records accurately and follow company and DOT safety standards
• Collaborate with drivers, dispatch, and maintenance team to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment while using proper PPE and tools
• Participate in ongoing training to stay current with modern equipment and industry best practices
