Diesel Shop Mechanic

Interstate Waste Services, a leader in non-hazardous waste management in the Northeast U.S., is seeking a dedicated Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of waste management vehicles. As a Diesel Mechanic at Interstate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our services, which are vital to effective waste management and environmental sustainability in the communities we serve.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine diagnostic checks on trucks, identifying any faults and implementing preventive maintenance measures.
• Maintain and repair diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems in waste collection vehicles.
• Test machinery to confirm proper functioning after repair work.
• Document detailed records of serviced vehicles and inventory management for parts and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and standards in maintenance practices.
• Train and mentor junior mechanics and assistants.
