Capital Waste Services LLC seeks a Regional Headquarters Relief Driver to support residential, commercial, and industrial waste and recycling routes across the Southeast from our Columbia, SC base. In this safety-first, team-focused role, you'll fill in for route drivers, operate collection trucks, and ensure reliable, on-time service. Responsibilities include safe vehicle operation, pre- and post-trip inspections, following routes and schedules, and providing courteous customer service. Responsibilities

  • Safely operate collection trucks to provide relief coverage for residential, commercial, and industrial routes across the region
  • Follow assigned schedules, routes, and dispatch instructions to ensure timely waste and recycling collection
  • Inspect vehicles daily, report mechanical issues, and coordinate with maintenance for repairs
  • Load, secure, and transport waste and recyclables in compliance with company, DOT, and environmental regulations
  • Provide professional, courteous service to customers and address basic service questions or concerns
  • Maintain accurate route, service, and disposal documentation using company systems or logs
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and participate in safety meetings and trainings
  • Assist at the regional headquarters with equipment staging, yard organization, and supporting other drivers as needed
  • Work flexible hours, including early mornings, occasional weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs
  • Collaborate with operations and dispatch teams to improve route efficiency and service quality

Required Skills

  • Commercial truck driving
  • CDL Class B with air brakes
  • Defensive driving and safety compliance
  • DOT regulations and hours-of-service knowledge
  • Pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Operation of hydraulic waste collection equipment
  • Route navigation and GPS use
  • Basic vehicle troubleshooting and reporting
