Gear Manufacturing Quality Inspector

Precision Gears, Inc. seeks an experienced Gear Manufacturing Quality Inspector to ensure our custom and stock gears meet exacting OEM standards. In this on-site role, you'll inspect spur, helical, bevel, and worm gears using micrometers, gauges, CMMs, and other metrology tools, interpreting prints and GD&T to verify tight tolerances. You'll document results, support root-cause investigations, and collaborate closely with machinists and engineers. Responsibilities

• Inspect spur, helical, bevel, and worm gears to tight tolerances using precision measurement tools
• Interpret engineering drawings, specs, and GD&T requirements for gear components
• Perform in-process, final, and receiving inspections and document results
• Use CMMs, gauges, micrometers, and other metrology equipment to verify dimensions
• Record, analyze, and report quality data; maintain inspection records and traceability
• Identify nonconformances and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and supervisors to resolve quality issues
• Support calibration of inspection tools and adherence to quality system procedures

• Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized inspection area

Required Skills

• Precision measurement (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
• CMM operation and programming basics
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation
• Use of gear-specific inspection tools (e.g., gear checkers)
• Nonconformance reporting and documentation

• MS Office or quality data software entry
• ISO 9001 or similar quality system knowledge
