Precision Gears, Inc. seeks an experienced Gear Manufacturing Quality Inspector to ensure our custom and stock gears meet exacting OEM standards. In this on-site role, you'll inspect spur, helical, bevel, and worm gears using micrometers, gauges, CMMs, and other metrology tools, interpreting prints and GD&T to verify tight tolerances. You'll document results, support root-cause investigations, and collaborate closely with machinists and engineers. Responsibilities
- Inspect spur, helical, bevel, and worm gears to tight tolerances using precision measurement tools
- Interpret engineering drawings, specs, and GD&T requirements for gear components
- Perform in-process, final, and receiving inspections and document results
- Use CMMs, gauges, micrometers, and other metrology equipment to verify dimensions
- Record, analyze, and report quality data; maintain inspection records and traceability
- Identify nonconformances and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and supervisors to resolve quality issues
- Support calibration of inspection tools and adherence to quality system procedures

- Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized inspection area
Required Skills
- Precision measurement (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- CMM operation and programming basics
- Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation
- Use of gear-specific inspection tools (e.g., gear checkers)
- Nonconformance reporting and documentation
- Root-cause analysis and corrective actions
- MS Office or quality data software entry
- ISO 9001 or similar quality system knowledge
- Shop math and trigonometry for inspection
