Responsibilities

• Command Great Lakes bulk carrier vessels for safe, compliant operations
• Plan and oversee voyages, navigation, and cargo loading/unloading
• Lead and supervise deck and engine crews, ensuring performance and discipline
• Enforce safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (USCG, company policies)
• Coordinate with shore-side logistics and dispatch for efficient scheduling
• Conduct drills, inspections, and preventive risk management activities
• Maintain vessel logs, reports, and documentation with high accuracy
• Support crew training, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives
