In-House Litigation Discovery Counsel

State Farm seeks an In-House Litigation Discovery Counsel to lead discovery strategy for complex banking, insurance, and investment matters within our Legal & Regulatory Compliance team. You will manage all phases of discovery, including preservation, collection, review, and production of documents and ESI, while partnering closely with trial teams, outside counsel, and internal stakeholders. In this role, you'll help ensure compliance with court rules and regulations, improve e-discovery processes, and train business partners. Responsibilities

• Lead discovery strategy for complex in-house litigation matters across banking, insurance, and investment lines of business
• Manage all phases of discovery, including preservation, collection, review, and production of documents and ESIPartner with trial counsel, outside counsel, and internal business units to align discovery with case strategy and risk tolerance
• Draft and respond to subpoenas, discovery requests, and discovery-related motions
• Advise on legal holds, data privacy, and information governance in coordination with IT and compliance teams
• Ensure discovery practices comply with applicable laws, court rules, and regulatory expectations
• Identify and implement improvements in e-discovery processes, tools, and vendor management
• Train internal stakeholders on discovery obligations, litigation preparedness, and documentation best practices
• Monitor litigation trends and emerging e-discovery case law impacting financial services
• Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative legal team culture focused on integrity, quality, and continuous development
