Material Handling Specialist

The Shaw Group, LLC seeks a Material Handling Specialist to support industrial construction and fabrication operations. In this role, you will safely receive, store, stage, and move materials, pipe, and modules across yard and fabrication areas using forklifts, cranes, and rigging equipment. You will verify documentation, perform inventory counts, and ensure materials are delivered to crews on time and in proper condition. The position requires strict adherence to safety procedures, collaboration with supervisors and craft teams, and accurate recordkeeping to support large industrial and energy projects.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and rigging equipment to move materials, pipe, and modules
• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against documentation
• Stage and deliver materials to fabrication and construction crews on schedule
• Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular cycle counts
• Follow all site safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations
• Secure loads for transport and storage to prevent damage or incidents
• Coordinate material priorities with supervisors and planners
• Keep material yards, laydown areas, and walkways organized and free of hazards
• Use basic computer systems or scanners to track material movement
• Report equipment issues and participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks
