Collector

Messerli Kramer, a premier law firm rooted in the Twin Cities, is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Collector to join our financial services team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in managing collections for our diverse client base while upholding the highest standards of compliance and professionalism. This role is critical in sustaining our commitment to delivering excellent client results while maintaining ethical and legal integrity.

Responsibilities

• Manage collection processes for client accounts in accordance with legal standards and firm policies.
• Initiate contact with clients and debtors to negotiate recoveries and payment arrangements, maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Document and track the status of claims and negotiate payments and settlements as authorized.
• Collaborate with attorneys and other stakeholders to ensure legal compliance in collections practices.
• Prepare and maintain reports on collection activities and progress.
• Utilize legal and financial knowledge to resolve disputes and minimize liability risks.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of collection laws and regulations, including FDCPA.
• Experience with legal and financial software, such as collections databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and manage sensitive information discreetly.
