Prairie Band Construction, a Native American tribally owned general contractor, seeks an In-house Attorney to support our Legal & Regulatory Compliance department. This role provides practical legal counsel on construction contracts, regulatory and tribal matters, risk management, and dispute resolution for tribal, federal, and commercial projects. The attorney will draft and negotiate agreements, advise on compliance with federal, state, and tribal regulations, and support bid reviews and subcontracting. Collaborating closely with project and leadership teams, this position promotes integrity, safety, and accountability while helping deliver safe, high-quality projects that honor tribal community values.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day legal counsel on construction, commercial, and tribal matters for active and proposed projects.
- Draft, review, and negotiate prime contracts, subcontracts, NDAs, and vendor and consulting agreements.
- Advise on compliance with federal, state, local, and tribal laws, including government contracting and procurement regulations.
- Support bid and proposal reviews, risk assessments, and contract terms to align with company risk tolerance and client requirements.
- Assist with claims, disputes, and change management, including documentation, negotiation, and collaboration with outside counsel when needed.
- Develop and maintain internal policies, templates, and procedures to strengthen legal and regulatory compliance.
- Provide training and guidance to project managers and leadership on contract obligations, regulatory requirements, and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate with leadership on corporate governance, insurance, licensing, and related legal matters as assigned.
- Partner with safety and operations teams to ensure alignment between legal risk management and safety-focused project execution.
