Connected Roots Care Center in Omaha seeks a Part-Time Special Education School-Age Paraprofessional to support children with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a community-based day setting. In this role, you'll provide direct care, assist with academic and life-skills activities, and help implement individualized support plans. You'll model positive behavior, promote social engagement, collect basic progress notes, and ensure safety and dignity. Working closely with a caring, interdisciplinary team, you'll empower each child's independence while building meaningful, trusting relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to school-age children with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a day program setting
  • Assist with academic reinforcement, life-skills training, and structured therapeutic activities
  • Implement individualized support plans and document basic progress notes and observations
  • Support positive behavior strategies and use de-escalation techniques when needed
  • Promote social engagement, communication, and peer interaction in group activities
  • Ensure client safety, dignity, and respect at all times
  • Collaborate with supervisors, therapists, and other team members to coordinate care
  • Communicate relevant updates to families and caregivers as directed by supervisors
  • Assist with personal care and daily living tasks as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inclusive program environment
