Peckham Industries is seeking a Quality Control Technician to support our Construction Quality Assurance & Testing team. In this field-focused role, you will sample and test asphalt, aggregates, and concrete, document results, and assist with plant and jobsite inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards. You'll work closely with operations and project teams across the Northeast, using lab and field testing equipment, maintaining accurate records, and helping drive continuous improvement in material quality. Responsibilities

  • Sample and test asphalt, aggregates, and concrete in the lab and field
  • Perform routine quality control tests following ASTM, AASHTO, and project specifications
  • Calibrate, operate, and maintain testing equipment and lab/field instruments
  • Accurately record, analyze, and report test results in a timely manner
  • Assist with plant and jobsite inspections for quality, safety, and compliance
  • Communicate nonconforming results and support corrective actions with operations teams
  • Follow all Peckham safety procedures and use required PPE at plants and jobsites
  • Maintain organized test records and documentation for internal and customer reporting
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in mix designs, processes, and testing methods
  • Work collaboratively with Quality Assurance, production, and construction crews across locations in the Northeast

Required Skills

  • Construction materials testing (asphalt, aggregates, concrete)
  • Use of lab and field testing equipment (nuclear gauge, sieves, compression machine, etc.)
  • Knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO test methods
  • Basic understanding of mix designs and material specifications
  • Field sampling procedures and chain-of-custody documentation
  • Data entry and quality control documentation
  • Reading and interpreting construction plans/specifications
  • Calibration and routine maintenance of test equipment
  • Basic math for testing calculations (densities, gradations, yields)
  • Safety practices in construction and plant environments
