Regional Headquarters Relief Driver

Capital Waste Services LLC seeks a Regional Headquarters Relief Driver to support residential, commercial, and industrial waste and recycling routes across the Southeast. Based near our Columbia, SC headquarters, you will safely operate collection trucks, fill in on multiple routes, and ensure timely, reliable service to customers. Duties include safe driving, pre/post-trip inspections, loading and unloading materials, following DOT and company safety standards, and providing courteous customer service. Responsibilities

• Safely operate residential and commercial waste collection trucks on assigned routes across the region
• Serve as a relief driver covering multiple routes and locations as needed by headquarters
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues promptly
• Follow all DOT, company, and safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and safe driving practices
• Load, transport, and unload waste and recyclables according to company procedures
• Provide courteous, professional service to customers and resolve basic service issues on route
• Maintain accurate logs, route sheets, and required documentation
• Collaborate with dispatch, route supervisors, and shop personnel to ensure reliable service
• Keep trucks and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order

Required Skills

• Commercial driving (CDL B or A)
• Safe operation of refuse collection trucks (rear-load, front-load, or roll-off)
• DOT regulations and hours-of-service compliance
• Vehicle inspection and basic maintenance reporting
• Route navigation and time management
• Use of onboard computers, tablets, or route management systems
• Knowledge of waste and recycling handling procedures
• Load securement and safe lifting techniques
• Customer service in field operations
• Accurate completion of logs and route paperwork
