Bailey Nurseries, Inc. is seeking a Plant Trial Coordinator to support research and development of new plant varieties. In this role, you will plan, establish, and monitor field and greenhouse trials, collect and analyze plant performance data, and ensure accurate recordkeeping. You will collaborate with research horticulturists and production teams to evaluate plant health, vigor, and market potential. Responsibilities
- Coordinate planning, setup, and execution of plant trials in greenhouse, nursery, and field environments.
- Assist with trial design, plant selection, layout, tagging, and scheduling of planting and evaluation activities.
- Monitor plant growth, health, and performance, documenting cultural practices and environmental conditions.
- Collect, record, and maintain accurate trial data, including measurements, phenology, pests, diseases, and quality ratings.
- Enter and manage trial data in databases or spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support the Research Horticulturist in implementing research protocols and maintaining consistent trial conditions.
- Scout trials for pests, diseases, and stress, and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
- Prepare trial summaries, photos, and basic reports to support internal decision-making and product development.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external trial partners regarding plant shipments, trial expectations, and performance feedback.
- Maintain trial areas, equipment, and supplies in an organized, safe, and efficient manner.
