Mount Prospect Academy seeks a compassionate Youth Counselor to support at-risk youth in our Community & Social Services department. In this onsite role, you will provide daily supervision, mentoring, and life-skills coaching in a structured, trauma-informed environment. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you will help implement individualized treatment and behavior plans, support academic and therapeutic goals, document progress, and assist with crisis prevention and de-escalation. This position offers extensive training, professional growth, and the opportunity to make a direct, lasting impact on youth in need.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily supervision, support, and mentoring to at-risk youth in a residential/educational setting
  • Implement individualized behavior and treatment plans as directed by clinical and educational teams
  • Promote safety through active supervision, routine checks, and adherence to trauma-informed practices
  • Assist with crisis prevention and de-escalation using trained intervention techniques
  • Support youth in building life skills, social skills, and positive coping strategies
  • Document observations, incidents, and progress notes accurately and in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with teachers, clinicians, and other staff in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Model respectful communication and positive behavior at all times
  • Assist with transportation, routines, and structured recreational activities
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
