Year Up United seeks motivated interns for our Financial Advisor Training Program within the Banking, Insurance & Investment sector. As a Financial Advisor Intern, you'll build foundational skills in client service, budgeting, investing, and risk management while supporting senior advisors with research, portfolio reviews, and financial planning tasks. You'll receive coaching, technical training, and exposure to inclusive, mission-driven workplace practices. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and passionate about advancing economic mobility for diverse young adults through careers in financial services.

Responsibilities

  • Support experienced financial advisors with client onboarding, data collection, and preparation of basic financial plans and reports
  • Assist in conducting preliminary financial assessments under supervision, including reviewing income, expenses, assets, and liabilities
  • Use financial planning and CRM software to document client interactions, maintain accurate records, and track follow-up tasks
  • Help educate clients and program participants on budgeting, credit, savings, insurance, and basic investment concepts through workshops or one-on-one support
  • Collaborate with colleagues across finance, operations, and program management to support program objectives and positive participant outcomes
  • Adhere to compliance, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all client and participant interactions
  • Participate in training sessions, mentoring, and performance feedback to build financial, analytical, and communication skills
  • Contribute to a diverse, inclusive, and mission-driven culture focused on empowering young adults and closing the opportunity divide
