In this role, you will interpret blueprints, cut, shape, and assemble metal components, and perform high-quality welding and finishing to meet precise specifications. Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble metal components and structures for scrap and coolant management systems, material handling equipment, and related products according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to plan layout, cutting, forming, and assembly operations for steel and other metals.
- Set up and operate metal fabrication equipment such as press brakes, shears, saws, drills, punches, and grinders to cut, bend, and shape components.
- Perform MIG and/or TIG welding on a variety of metals, ensuring strong, clean welds that meet company quality and safety standards.
- Measure, mark, and lay out materials using calipers, squares, tape measures, and other precision tools to maintain tight tolerances.
- Inspect finished parts and assemblies for accuracy, fit, and finish, making adjustments or rework as needed to meet specifications.
- Assist in fitting, aligning, and assembling fabricated parts into larger systems and subassemblies used in manufacturing and recycling environments.
- Follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment, contributing to a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other skilled labor team members to resolve fabrication issues and improve manufacturability of components.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance on fabrication equipment, report equipment issues promptly, and support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
