Local CDL A Driver
BJ's Wholesale Club is hiring a Local CDL A Driver to support its wholesale distribution operations in Elkton, MD. In this role, you'll operate a CDL A tractor-trailer on local routes, hauling no-touch freight between clubs, depots, and partner locations. You'll perform thorough pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain DOT-compliant electronic logs, and follow all FMCSA regulations and company safety policies. The position is field-based, requiring strong defensive driving skills, time management, and professional communication with dispatch and club teams. You'll ensure on-time, accurate deliveries while representing BJ's member-focused, team-oriented culture and supporting continuous improvement and safe operations. Responsibilities
- Operate CDL A tractor-trailer for local routes hauling no-touch freight to and from BJ's locations and partners.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and document findings per DOT and company standards.
- Follow all FMCSA/DOT regulations, company safety policies, and local traffic laws at all times.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs, delivery records, and required shipping documentation.
- Ensure on-time pickup and delivery while planning efficient routes and adapting to traffic and weather.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, club teams, and members as needed regarding schedules and issues.
- Report equipment issues, safety concerns, incidents, and delays promptly to the appropriate contacts.
- Secure and verify freight, ensuring loads are safe, sealed as required, and protected during transit.
- Support a member-focused culture by representing BJ's with professionalism and courteous service.
- Participate in ongoing safety meetings, training, and performance reviews to support continuous improvement.
