Novant Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center Operating Room team. In this role, you will provide safe, high-quality perioperative care, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative support for a variety of surgical procedures. You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams, ensure adherence to infection control and safety standards, and support patient and family education. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing ambulatory surgical and procedural interventions.
- Perform thorough preoperative assessments, verify patient identity and procedure, and ensure consents, diagnostics, and preparations are complete.
- Function as circulating nurse and, when appropriate, as scrub nurse, maintaining aseptic and sterile technique and ensuring proper equipment and instrumentation are available.
- Continuously monitor patients' physiological status intraoperatively, anticipate needs of the surgical and anesthesia team, and respond promptly to changes in condition.
- Document all assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record.
- Participate in surgical safety protocols including time-outs, counts, equipment checks, and infection prevention measures.
- Coordinate safe patient transfers to and from the operating room and provide detailed handoff reports to post-anesthesia care or recovery staff.
- Educate patients and families on perioperative expectations, post-operative care instructions, pain management strategies, and follow-up requirements.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other team members to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, quality-improvement initiatives, and adherence to Novant Health policies, regulatory standards, and best practices.
