Swim Instructor

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a passionate and dedicated Swim Instructor to join our vibrant team. This role is pivotal in promoting aquatic safety and skills, aligning with our commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for community members of all ages. As a Swim Instructor, you will have the opportunity to directly impact lives through teaching swimming techniques, water safety, and enhancing the physical health and confidence of our participants.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and teach engaging and educational swim lessons for different age groups and skill levels.
• Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool policies, rules, and YMCA regulations.
• Monitor the progress of students and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their swimming skills.
• Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, class levels, and progress.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training to ensure up-to-date knowledge of swim teaching techniques and safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding the progress and development of their children.
• Set up and break down instructional areas while ensuring equipment is safe and organized.

Required Skills

• Strong swimming capabilities and knowledge of various swimming strokes.
• Ability to instruct and communicate swim techniques effectively to all age groups.
• Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
• High level of patience and excellent interpersonal skills to encourage children and adults.
• Organization and planning skills to develop engaging lesson plans and track participant progress.
