Binding Machine Operator

TSG - The Sheridan Group is seeking a detail-oriented Binding Machine Operator to support our high-impact communications work by producing professional, client-ready materials. In this on-site role in Washington, DC, you will set up, operate, and maintain binding equipment to assemble reports, briefing books, and advocacy collateral. You'll interpret job tickets, ensure precise finishing, and perform quality checks to meet exacting standards. Working in a small, collaborative production team, you'll troubleshoot issues, follow strict safety practices, and help ensure timely delivery on fast-paced public affairs projects.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor binding machines for books and printed materials
• Read and interpret job tickets and specifications to ensure accurate production
• Conduct in-process quality checks and adjust machine settings as needed
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues
• Follow all safety, housekeeping, and equipment protocols
• Coordinate with production team to meet deadlines and productivity targets
• Accurately track output, waste, and basic production data
• Assist with material handling, loading, and finished-goods staging
