Boston Children's Hospital seeks an OR/SPD Materials Technician to support our world-class pediatric surgical services. In this on-site role, you'll receive, store, track, and deliver sterile and non-sterile supplies and instruments for the OR and Sterile Processing Department. You'll manage inventory in hospital systems, perform cycle counts, verify sterility and expirations, and keep storage areas organized and compliant. Working closely with clinical and SPD teams, you'll help ensure every case is ready, supporting our mission-driven, collaborative environment dedicated to children's health.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and store OR/SPD materials, instruments, and supplies according to hospital protocols
  • Monitor inventory levels and perform routine cycle counts to prevent stockouts or overstock
  • Prepare, stage, and deliver sterile and non-sterile supplies to operating rooms and procedure areas on schedule
  • Inspect packages and trays for integrity, sterility indicators, and expiration dates; escalate issues promptly
  • Use inventory management systems and handheld devices to track usage, locations, and reorders
  • Coordinate with clinical, supply chain, and sterile processing teams to support case readiness and urgent needs
  • Follow infection prevention, safety, and handling standards for medical devices and sterile products
  • Assist with returns, recalls, and product substitutions in collaboration with Supply Chain and SPD leadership
  • Maintain clean, organized storage areas that comply with regulatory and hospital standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and service quality
