Roll Press Operator

TSG - The Sheridan Group seeks a skilled Press Rollstand Operator to support our Manufacturing & Production team in a fast-paced environment. The Operator will set up, load, and align paper rolls, monitor web tension, and ensure smooth, safe press operation. Responsibilities include performing basic maintenance, troubleshooting roll feed issues, minimizing waste and downtime, and following strict quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate has prior experience in a manufacturing or print environment, strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively on a high-performance production team.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor rollstand equipment to support press operations in a high-volume printing environment
• Load, align, and secure paper rolls according to job tickets, ensuring proper web tension, tracking, and splicing to minimize downtime
• Inspect materials for defects, monitor print quality, and promptly report or correct issues to maintain established quality standards
• Perform basic mechanical adjustments and troubleshooting on rollstands and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper material handling practices, to maintain a clean and hazard-free work area
• Collaborate closely with press operators, maintenance, and production leads to meet production schedules and performance targets
• Accurately document production data, material usage, and any downtime or equipment issues in logs or production systems
• Participate in routine preventive maintenance activities and notify maintenance staff of equipment concerns or needed repairs
