Uncommon Schools seeks an Apprentice Teacher to support our mission-driven, college-preparatory charter schools. As an Apprentice Teacher, you will assist lead teachers with instruction, small-group support, and classroom management while learning effective teaching practices in a high-expectations, equity-focused environment. You will collect and use student data, help plan lessons, reinforce school culture, and partner with families. Through robust coaching, observations, and professional development, you will build the skills, mindset, and leadership needed to grow into a full-time classroom teacher and advance educational equity for underserved students.
Responsibilities
- Support lead teacher with daily instruction and classroom routines
- Lead small-group and one-on-one instruction under supervision
- Use data to support differentiated instruction and student interventions
- Assist with grading, preparation of materials, and classroom organization
- Reinforce school culture, behavior expectations, and student engagement
- Collaborate with teachers, coaches, and school leaders on student achievement
- Participate in professional development, coaching, and observations
- Communicate professionally with students, families, and colleagues
