Uncommon Schools seeks a mission-driven High School History Teacher to deliver rigorous, culturally responsive instruction that prepares students for college and civic life. You will design standards-aligned units in U.S. and/or world history, analyze data to drive achievement, and create a structured, joyful classroom where all students thrive. Working in a collaborative, equity-focused team, you will receive coaching, professional development, and leadership opportunities while making a direct impact on underserved communities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned high school history lessons.
  • Create a structured, culturally responsive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Use assessments and data to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, interventions, and school-wide goals.
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress and supports.
  • Provide accommodations and modifications for diverse learners.
  • Participate in coaching, professional development, and observations.
  • Contribute to school culture through advisory, events, and duties.
