Uncommon Schools seeks a Middle School ELA Teacher to provide rigorous, engaging literacy instruction in a high-performing, college-preparatory charter school. In this role, you will design and deliver standards-aligned reading and writing lessons, analyze assessment data to drive student growth, and implement targeted interventions for diverse learners. You will build a structured, joyful, and culturally responsive classroom, collaborate with a mission-driven team, and receive robust coaching and professional development to grow your practice and impact educational equity.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned middle school ELA lessons that build strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
- Use data from assessments to analyze student progress and adjust instruction for diverse learners.
- Create a structured, joyful, and culturally responsive classroom environment with high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Provide targeted interventions and supports to students who are below grade level in literacy.
- Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to refine curriculum, share best practices, and align on student goals.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress, goals, and classroom expectations.
- Participate in ongoing coaching, observations, and professional development aligned to Uncommon Schools' instructional model.
- Contribute to the school community through advisory, duties, and school events as assigned.
