Uncommon Schools seeks a mission-driven High School ELA Teacher to provide rigorous, college-preparatory instruction to students in underserved communities. You will plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons in literature, writing, and critical thinking, using data to drive instruction and ensure strong student growth. You will build a structured, joyful, and culturally responsive classroom, collaborate closely with a supportive team, engage families, and participate in robust coaching and professional development within our high-performing charter network.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned high school ELA lessons focused on reading, writing, and critical thinking.
- Use data from assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Create a structured, joyful, and culturally responsive classroom environment with strong routines and expectations.
- Provide targeted small-group and individualized support to accelerate literacy growth.
- Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to align curriculum, share best practices, and analyze student data.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress, goals, and supports.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, coaching, and feedback cycles.
- Contribute to the broader school community through duties, events, and student enrichment activities.
