Help a steel fabrication and machining shop build large, heavy steel products for clients nationwide. Cannonball Recruiting is searching for a proven structural fabrication fitter who thrives on precision layouts, accurate fit ups, and sound welds.

Pay & Hours
  • Pay: $24-$28 per hour (depending on weld test results)
  • 1st Shift: Mon-Thu, 6:00am-4:30pm
  • 2nd Shift: Mon-Thu, 5:00pm-3:30am
  • OT: Available Friday and Saturday as needed
Your Impact
  • Translate engineering drawings, shop routers, and BOMs into finished heavy steel assemblies
  • Lay out and inspect steel plate and shapes, marking bend and cut lines with allowances for thickness and shrinkage
  • Fit components with jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, hammers, braces, clamps, ropes, and bolts
  • Tack and weld using primarily MIG, with Flux Core, TIG, and Stick as needed for thick steel plate
  • Verify dimensional accuracy using squares, rulers, and tape measures
  • Move and position parts with forklifts, hoists, and cranes
  • Design and fabricate templates and fixtures to speed repeatability
  • Straighten warped or bent members using sledges, hand torches, straightening presses, or bulldozers
  • Document work performed; keep equipment running smoothly; maintain a safe work environment
  • Communicate with supervisors and teammates by phone, email, in writing, and face to face
  • Multitask across multiple work orders and changing priorities
  • Lift 50+ pounds and handle additional duties as assigned
What You Need to Succeed
  • 3-5 years as a steel fabrication fitter/fabricator
  • Fluent in blueprint reading and interpretation
  • Proven experience fabricating directly from drawings
  • Welding proficiency: MIG required; Flux Core, TIG, and Stick exposure on heavy plate
  • Comfortable with common power tools and hand tools
  • Working knowledge of safe crane operations
  • Accurate tape measure use and basic math competency
