Waste Connections is seeking a safety-focused CDL Driver to join our Transportation & Logistics team in waste management. In this role, you will operate commercial refuse collection vehicles to safely haul solid waste and recyclables on assigned routes. Responsibilities include performing pre/post-trip inspections, safely maneuvering in residential and commercial areas, following DOT and company safety standards, and providing courteous service to customers. You'll complete route paperwork and use onboard systems while working closely with dispatch. Responsibilities
- Safely operate CDL refuse and recycling trucks on assigned routes
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document findings
- Collect, load, and transport solid waste and recyclables from residential, commercial, and industrial customers
- Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety policies and procedures
- Communicate with dispatch and supervisors to resolve route or service issues
- Use onboard systems/ELDs to track routes, loads, and service completion
- Provide courteous, professional service and interact respectfully with customers and the community
- Identify and report maintenance needs, safety hazards, or route concerns
- Accurately complete required logs, tickets, and daily route paperwork
- Support teammates and contribute to a safety-focused, performance-driven culture
Required Skills
- Commercial truck driving (CDL Class A or B)
- Safe vehicle operation in residential/commercial areas
- Pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and hours-of-service rules
- Operation of hydraulic and lifting systems on refuse trucks
- Electronic logging devices (ELDs) and onboard computers
- Route navigation and time management
- Basic vehicle troubleshooting and reporting maintenance needs
- Customer service and communication
- Completion of logs, tickets, and route paperwork
