Forward Air is seeking a Manager, Dangerous Goods Management to lead our hazardous materials compliance and safety program within the Transportation & Logistics Safety department. This role oversees dangerous goods policies, training, and audits across our North American expedited LTL, intermodal, final mile, and truckload network. The Manager ensures adherence to IATA, IMDG, 49 CFR, and customer requirements while partnering with Operations and Safety leaders to enable safe, efficient freight flows. You will analyze safety data, investigate incidents, drive corrective actions, and champion a performance-driven, safety-first culture that supports our fast-paced e-commerce and industrial supply chain customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Dangerous Goods Management program for Forward Air's transportation and logistics network.
  • Ensure full compliance with IATA, IMDG, 49 CFR and related dangerous goods regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and update policies, SOPs, and training for hazardous materials handling.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations; drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with Operations, Safety, and Customer teams to ensure safe, efficient DG movement.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, assess impact, and communicate updates across the organization.
  • Analyze DG performance and safety metrics to identify trends and improve controls.
  • Lead DG training and coaching for managers, frontline staff, and third-party partners.
  • Support customer onboarding and service solutions for DG shipments.
  • Promote a performance-driven, safety-first culture aligned with Forward Air values.
