Spotter

Packaging Corporation of America is seeking a Spotter to support our Transportation & Logistics team in the packaging industry. The Spotter safely moves trailers and containers in and out of docks and yard positions to keep shipping and receiving operations running smoothly. This role coordinates closely with drivers, warehouse, and production to ensure on-time staging, accurate trailer placement, and efficient yard flow. The Spotter also performs basic equipment checks, follows strict safety and DOT guidelines, and maintains clear, accurate yard records in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers and containers between yard, docks, and staging areas safely and efficiently
• Coordinate with warehouse and production to align trailer moves with loading schedules
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections on yard truck and trailers, reporting issues promptly
• Maintain accurate yard inventory, trailer locations, and move logs (paper or digital)
• Follow all PCA, OSHA, and DOT safety policies and procedures
• Communicate clearly by radio and in person with drivers, dispatch, and dock personnel
• Assist with securing loads, chocking wheels, and verifying trailer conditions before loading/unloading
