Responsibilities

  • Operate a CDL Class A tractor-trailer on dedicated routes, delivering time-sensitive freight according to established schedules.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure safe and compliant operation of tractor and trailer.
  • Maintain compliance with all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and Hours of Service requirements using electronic logging devices.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with dispatch regarding load status, delays, mechanical issues, and route changes.
  • Ensure freight is properly secured, protected, and handled, and verify bills of lading and related shipping documents for accuracy.
  • Practice defensive driving techniques and hazard awareness to minimize risk and protect yourself, the motoring public, and company equipment.
  • Manage trip planning, including routing, fuel stops, and time management, to support on-time delivery and efficient operations.
  • Represent Mesilla Valley Transportation in a professional manner with customers, vendors, and the public, supporting a culture of respect and teamwork.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns immediately and coordinate with maintenance teams to keep equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Support company safety initiatives and participate in ongoing training, performance reviews, and safety or performance bonus programs.
