Responsibilities
- Safely operate CDL-A tractor-trailer to transport time-sensitive freight across assigned regional, long-haul, and potential cross-border routes.
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and promptly report any maintenance or safety issues.
- Maintain full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations, including accurate use of electronic logging devices (ELDs) and hours-of-service rules.
- Plan and execute efficient routes, managing time and driving hours to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
- Secure and protect cargo according to company and regulatory standards to prevent damage and loss.
- Communicate proactively and professionally with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding load status, delays, and any issues on the road.
- Practice defensive driving techniques in all traffic, weather, and road conditions to minimize risk and ensure safety.
- Maintain accurate records, including bills of lading, trip reports, fuel and toll receipts, and any required cross-border documentation.
- Represent Mesilla Valley Transportation with professionalism and respect at customer locations, truck stops, and on the road.
