Academic Tutor and Mentor

As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you'll serve full-time in a public school, providing individualized and small-group academic support, homework help, and test preparation. You will build positive relationships with students, serve as a consistent mentor, and help foster social-emotional growth. Working within a diverse AmeriCorps team, you'll collaborate with teachers, track student progress, and contribute to a positive, inclusive school climate. City Year offers structured training, coaching, and leadership development to support your impact and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects
• Support classroom instruction in partnership with teachers
• Offer homework help, test prep, and skill-building activities
• Mentor students to build confidence and social-emotional skills
• Track and document student progress and participation
• Collaborate with school staff and Ameri
• Corps teammates on student support plans
• Facilitate enrichment activities and after-school programs as needed
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment
• Communicate regularly with supervisors and participate in coaching sessions
• Engage in ongoing professional development and City Year trainings
