Academic Tutor and Mentor

City Year seeks an Academic Tutor and Mentor to support students' academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this role, you'll provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, support classroom instruction, and track student progress. You'll build positive relationships, serve as a mentor and role model, and help create an inclusive, engaging learning environment. As part of a diverse AmeriCorps team, you'll receive training, professional development, and coaching while contributing to educational equity and student success.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects
• Support classroom teachers with instruction and classroom activities
• Monitor and track student progress and attendance
• Mentor students to build social-emotional and leadership skills
• Communicate regularly with teachers and school staff about student needs
• Help create an inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environment
• Assist with school-wide initiatives, events, and enrichment programs
• Participate in City Year trainings, reflection, and professional development
• Model positive behavior, reliability, and a strong service ethic
• Contribute to a collaborative Ameri
• Corps team within the school
