Student Success Counselor

As a Student Success Coach and Mentor at City Year, you will serve full-time in a partner public school, building relationships with students and providing daily academic, social-emotional, and attendance support. You'll lead small-group tutoring, mentor students, track progress, and collaborate with teachers to create inclusive, engaging classrooms. In this role, you'll join a diverse AmeriCorps team, receive ongoing training and coaching, and grow your leadership skills while advancing educational equity and student success.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily academic support through small-group and one-on-one tutoring
• Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and positive relationships
• Monitor attendance and engagement, encouraging consistent school participation
• Collaborate with teachers to support classroom management and instruction
• Help plan and facilitate enrichment, after-school, and service-learning activities
• Track and record student progress and outcomes using basic data tools
• Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year teammates
• Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development
• Model inclusive, culturally responsive, and equity-focused practices
• Support school-wide events and initiatives that promote student success
