Student Success Counselor

As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you'll serve full-time in a public school, building relationships with students and providing academic, social, and emotional support. In partnership with teachers, you'll offer in-class assistance, small-group tutoring, and mentoring focused on attendance, behavior, and coursework. You'll track student progress, help lead enrichment and family engagement activities, and contribute to a positive, inclusive school climate while growing your own leadership and professional skills in a mission-driven, collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with students to support academic, social, and emotional growth
• Provide in-class support, small-group tutoring, and mentoring focused on attendance, behavior, and coursework
• Monitor student progress, document interactions, and share updates with school staff
• Collaborate with teachers, school partners, and City Year teams to design and deliver student interventions
• Help facilitate enrichment activities, family engagement, and after-school programming
• Model positive school climate and contribute to an inclusive, equity-focused culture
