Student Success Counselor

As a Student Success Coach and Mentor at City Year, you will serve in public schools to support students' academic and social-emotional growth. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you'll provide in-class support, small-group and one-on-one tutoring, and mentoring that builds students' confidence and skills. You'll collaborate with teachers, track student progress, and help lead after-school and enrichment activities. City Year offers training, coaching, and a collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on social justice, leadership development, and personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class academic support to students in core subjects
• Offer one-on-one and small-group tutoring and mentoring
• Build positive relationships that foster students' social-emotional growth
• Collaborate daily with teachers and school staff to align support with classroom goals
• Track and report on student attendance, behavior, and academic progress
• Help plan and lead after-school, enrichment, and service-learning activities
• Communicate regularly with site supervisors and Ameri
• Corps teammates
• Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development
• Model inclusive, culturally responsive, and equity-centered practices
• Support school-wide initiatives that promote a positive learning environment
