Academic Tutor and Mentor

As an Academic Tutor and Mentor at City Year, you will support students' academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. Working within the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you'll provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, reinforce classroom instruction, and track student progress. You will also build positive relationships, serve as a mentor and role model, and collaborate with teachers and City Year teammates. Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects
• Support classroom instruction under the guidance of partner teachers
• Mentor students to build confidence, engagement, and social-emotional skills
• Monitor and document student progress and learning outcomes
• Collaborate with City Year teammates and school staff on student support strategies
• Participate in training, coaching, and professional development sessions
• Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding student needs and progress
• Support classroom management and a positive learning environment
• Assist with school-based events and family engagement activities
• Model inclusive, equity-focused, and culturally responsive practices
