Student Success Counselor

As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you will serve in a public school as part of a diverse team dedicated to helping students thrive. In this full-time, on-site role, you will provide daily academic tutoring, classroom support, and mentoring to promote attendance, engagement, and social-emotional growth. You will collaborate closely with teachers, track student progress, and participate in regular training and coaching. City Year offers a mission-driven, inclusive culture with opportunities for leadership development, teamwork, and meaningful impact in students' lives.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily in-school mentoring and academic support to students to improve attendance, behavior, and coursework.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement classroom support, small-group instruction, and tutoring sessions.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students to foster social-emotional growth and goal setting.
• Track student progress and document interventions using basic data tools and reporting systems.
• Participate in team meetings, coaching sessions, and professional development offered by City Year.
• Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year leaders to align student support strategies.
• Assist with school-wide events, enrichment activities, and family engagement efforts.
• Model City Year's values of service, inclusion, and social justice in all interactions.
