Student Success Counselor

As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you will serve in a public school as part of a diverse AmeriCorps team, helping students build the skills and mindsets needed to thrive. You will provide individualized and small-group support in attendance, behavior, and coursework; collaborate with teachers to reinforce classroom learning; and build trusting relationships that promote student confidence and belonging. Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor middle and high school students to improve attendance, behavior, and academic performance
• Provide in-class support, small-group tutoring, and one-on-one check-ins
• Track student progress and maintain accurate, confidential records
• Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and City Year teammates to design student support plans
• Engage families, caregivers, and community partners to support student success
• Model positive behavior, leadership, and a growth mindset for students
• Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and professional development
• Support school-wide activities, events, and culture-building initiatives
