Student Success Counselor

As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you'll serve full-time in a partner public school, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you'll provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring, mentor students, and help create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment. You'll collaborate with teachers, track student progress, and lead enrichment activities, while developing your own leadership skills through ongoing training, coaching, and professional development in a mission-driven, equity-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects
• Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and positive school engagement
• Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and student interventions
• Monitor and track student attendance, behavior, and academic progress
• Facilitate after-school or enrichment programs and school-wide initiatives
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students, families, and school staff
• Support a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom and school climate
• Participate in ongoing City Year trainings, coaching, and professional development
• Contribute to team planning, data review, and reflection meetings
• Uphold City Year's values of social justice, service, and collaboration
