TSG - The Sheridan Group, a strategic communications and public affairs firm, is seeking a Finishing Operator to support print media projects in our Manufacturing & Production department. You will operate and monitor finishing equipment, ensure high-quality output, perform basic maintenance, and coordinate with project teams to meet deadlines and specifications. Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor print finishing equipment such as cutters, folders, collators, binders, inserters, and packaging machines
- Read and interpret job tickets and production specifications to ensure accurate finishing, packaging, and labeling
- Perform routine quality checks on finished materials for accuracy, alignment, trimming, and overall appearance
- Load, stage, and move paper, printed materials, and supplies using pallet jacks or similar material handling tools
- Troubleshoot minor equipment and mechanical issues and escalate complex issues to supervisors or maintenance
- Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on finishing equipment and workstations
- Maintain accurate counts, bundle or package finished products, and prepare orders for shipment or internal distribution
- Collaborate with press operators, production leads, and project managers to meet deadlines and shift priorities as needed
- Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures where applicable, and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area
- Record basic production data, job completions, and quality issues using paper logs or simple computer systems
Required Skills
- Operation of print finishing equipment (cutters, folders, collators, binders, inserters)
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting
