TSG - The Sheridan Group seeks a Lead Web Press Operator to manage high-quality print production in our Printing Media department. You will set up, operate, and maintain web press equipment, oversee press crews, troubleshoot mechanical and quality issues, and ensure color accuracy and on-time delivery. Collaborating with account and production teams, you'll translate client specifications into precise press runs. Ideal candidates bring strong technical press expertise, leadership experience, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor high speed web printing presses for scheduled jobs
- Read and interpret job tickets to determine press setup, color, substrate, and finishing requirements
- Perform make readies, changeovers, and adjustments to achieve targeted color, registration, and print quality
- Lead, train, and mentor press assistants and junior operators on proper procedures and safety practices
- Enforce and follow all safety guidelines, lockout/tagout procedures, and housekeeping standards on the press floor
- Troubleshoot mechanical and print quality issues and coordinate with maintenance for complex repairs
- Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on presses and related equipment
- Monitor production efficiency, waste, and downtime, and make process improvements where possible
- Maintain accurate logs for production counts, materials usage, quality checks, and maintenance activities
- Collaborate with scheduling, prepress, and finishing departments to meet deadlines and customer specifications
