WellSpan Health seeks a Medical Technologist for our Laboratory Services team. In this role, you will perform and analyze a full range of laboratory tests, support Point-of-Care (POC) testing, ensure quality control, and collaborate with clinical staff to deliver accurate, timely results. Responsibilities
- Perform, validate, and document a wide range of point-of-care (POC) and core laboratory tests in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot POC analyzers and standard laboratory equipment, ensuring instruments are calibrated, quality-controlled, and functioning optimally.
- Review and interpret test results, recognizing critical values and promptly communicating significant findings to providers and nursing staff.
- Follow CLIA, CAP, and hospital policies for quality assurance, proficiency testing, specimen handling, and documentation.
- Train, orient, and provide ongoing competency support to nurses and other clinical staff performing POC testing across the health system.
- Participate in POC implementation projects, including validation, correlation studies, workflow optimization, and integration with the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support accurate, timely, and patient-centered diagnostic care.
- Maintain accurate records in the laboratory information system (LIS), ensuring complete and legible documentation of all testing activities.
- Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory guidelines, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of biological specimens and reagents.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including process standardization, incident investigation, and adoption of innovative testing solutions in the laboratory and at the point of care.
