UF Health is seeking a Medical Technologist Lead to guide daily operations in our Laboratory Services department. In this role, you will perform and oversee complex diagnostic testing, supervise and mentor staff, and ensure strict compliance with CAP, CLIA, and UF Health quality standards. You will collaborate closely with clinicians to support accurate, timely results that drive patient-centered care. Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations of the clinical laboratory within UF Health's Laboratory Services department.
- Oversee and perform complex diagnostic testing, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Supervise, mentor, and schedule technologists and support staff to meet workload demands.
- Maintain quality control, troubleshoot instrumentation, and coordinate equipment maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to CAP, CLIA, and hospital policies and support accreditation activities.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care.
- Train new staff and students, promoting a culture of safety, inclusion, and continuous learning.
- Analyze workflow, implement process improvements, and support adoption of new technologies.
Required Skills
- Clinical laboratory testing (chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, transfusion)
- Operation and troubleshooting of automated analyzers and lab instrumentation
- Quality control and quality assurance in a high-complexity lab
- Laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR)
- Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and other regulatory/accreditation standards
- Supervisory and staff scheduling skills
- Method validation and correlation studies
- Specimen processing and handling
- Data analysis and interpretation of lab results
- Safety and infection control practices
