Locum Anesthesiologist Opportunity Waterloo, Iowa Position Overview

MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center is seeking two Board-Certified Anesthesiologists for an ongoing locum tenens assignment beginning June 29, 2026. This opportunity offers a broad mix of general anesthesia cases in a well-established hospital setting with weekday OR coverage and shared call responsibilities.

Schedule

• Monday Friday: 6:30 AM 4:30 PM
• No clinic responsibilities
• Night call approximately every 3 4 days
• Weekend call coverage required
• Client will consider providers available at least 2 weeks per month

Clinical Responsibilities

• General adult anesthesia
• Obstetric anesthesia, including TOLAC cases
• Healthy pediatric cases (primarily tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies)
• Conscious sedation
• Pre-operative evaluations and intraoperative management
• Some CRNA supervision

Case Mix

• General Surgery
• Orthopedics
• OB/GYN
• Healthy Pediatrics
• ENT Procedures
• No cardiac surgery
• No neurosurgery

Facility Information

• 366-bed regional medical center
• Level III Trauma Center
• Level III Regional NICU
• 13 Operating Rooms
• Department volume of approximately cases per day
• Group consists of 6 Anesthesiologists and 2 CRNAs
• Epic EMR

Required Qualifications

• Board Certified Anesthesiologist (BE not accepted)
• Active Iowa License or IMLC Letter of Qualification
• ACLS Certification
• Clean malpractice history with no settled or pending claims
• Clean background history
• COVID vaccination required
• Ability to participate in call schedule

Preferred Availability

The facility has an ongoing need throughout 2026 and prefers providers who can cover multiple assignment blocks. Availability during the weeks of November 23 and December 21 is required.
