Neonatology Physician

The Neonatologist delivers high-quality, evidence-based care as part of a team with neonatal nurse practitioners at a 25-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for critically ill and high-risk newborns. This role is responsible for promoting a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous quality improvement while delivering exceptional patient and family centered care. In addition, the role oversees newborn care across all Asante facilities and accepts transfers from our service area of Southern Oregon and Northern California.

In addition to providing direct patient care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, ongoing management, neonatal resuscitation, and emergency response the physician collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize clinical outcomes and care transitions. In partnership with OHSU, nursing leadership, and hospital administration, the neonatologist helps drive operational excellence, maintain regulatory compliance, support program growth, and advance strategic initiatives that strengthen neonatal services across the organization.

Position Qualifications




Experience



  • Current or recent experience in neonatology is required

Education



  • Graduate of an approved medical school is required
  • Successful completion of residency training in an ACGME accredited in neonatology program is required


Required Certification/Licensure



  • Board Certified/Eligible in area of specialty by the Oregon State Board of Medical Examiners (OSBME)
  • MD (Doctor of Medicine) or DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start
  • Must obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges this includes but is not limited to, holding position-specific certifications/memberships as determined by Asante Medical Staff team
  • Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs
  • Physician shall meet all qualifications to participate in hospital's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.
